JOIN HANDS FOR JAPAN 11.3.2012
We are organising a major charity event called "Join Hands For Japan"
: Remembering Japan One Year On
Date: 11 March 2012: First anniversary of Japan's tsunami, one of the world's worst disasters
Time: 11:00 a.m. start (joining hands at 12noon)
Purpose: To raise funds for the survivors of the tsunami which left:
*more than 20,000 people (including 378 children) dead
*158 children missing
*236 children orphaned
*40,000 houses and other buildings destroyed
*Over 100,000 children directly affected by the crisis through displacement, loss of access to education, loss
of family members, and exposure to high levels of
stress and anxiety.
• 7,232 schools and kindergartens damaged or destroyedMore than 100,000 children directly affected by the disaster
Our goal is to to gather as many people down at the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway (our goal 2000) to Join Hands for Japan in remembering the disaster one year on. 11.3.12 and to raise funds for Save the Children Japan.
We now have the certificates of participation which also dubbes as raffle tickets on sale now at Sushi Ninja, Crowded House, Aroborio, and Star Anise Cafe. Please purchase your $5 certificates and show your support. Bring them down to the event and be in to win a variety of prizes including Free domestic flights for two, A free nights accommodation at Ahu Ahu Villas, WOMAD tickets, Sushi Ninja, Crowded House and Elixir vouchers etc.

Children's Paper Chain Competion- make the coolest or longest paper chain and be in to win some cool prizes. Entries by emailing Sophie on kurota@xtra.co.nz or phone 0276021604. This competition is open to all primary aged children and can enter as a school team or individual team.
